Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) For PCOS

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I get many questions about how to use apple cider vinegar (ACV) to help your PCOS symptoms, so I thought I’d put together a few tips to help you get the most out of this great natural option for controlling your blood sugar and insulin levels:

First of all, why is apple cider vinegar helpful? When taken before meals it helps to reduce the rise in blood sugar that normally occurs after a meal, thereby reducing the amount of insulin needed. Less insulin means less testosterone, and therefore less acne, hair loss, excess hair, and cycle problems.

‘Healthy Product’ Review: Miracle Wash Laundry Balls

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I have been using Miracle Wash Laundry Balls for a few months now, and I am very impressed. When it comes to improving your health, reducing the use of household chemicals and synthetic personal care products is of VITAL importance, not to mention the benefit for the environment. There is no need to use nasty chemical ingredients when there are natural options available for just about everything.

These laundry balls are safe, natural, effective, and economical. All you do is pop them in the washing machine with your clothes, and they do the rest! No liquids, powders, or measuring anything. My clothes are coming out just as clean as when I washed with ‘normal’ washing formulas, but they are actually SOFTER! There is no need to use fabric softeners because the balls have a natural softening effect as well as cleaning ability.

I am also pleased that I am saving money, I have been using them for about four months now and have not had to replace them or the little pellets that come inside them, they last for ages!

I’ll be continuing to use these and recommending them to everyone! Click here for details.

New hope for excess hair?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

A study has found that using a topical cream containing 2% fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) reduces hair diameter by about 18%.

Although this study wasn’t done with women with PCOS, it may provide an option for those sufferring hirsutism as one of their symptoms. Excess hair is caused by an increased stimulation of the hair follicles by testosterone. High testosterone can be triggered by high insulin levels.

It’s interesting though, that some women with excess hair have normal blood levels of testosterone. This may indicate that the problem lies in an increase in the locally produced androgens within the hair follicle or skin itself.
